Romans 8:11: And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
The power of the Holy Spirit is within you! Does the life you live reflect the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in you? Who is the Holy Spirit? He is the third person of the trinity. He is sometimes referred to as the Spirit of God. If you are born again then at salvation the Holy Spirit came to live on the inside of you. My answer to the question is sometimes it is evident that someone other than myself is responsible for the victories, successes and prosperity in my life. At other times it is clear that my flesh won the battle of dictating my behaviour and conduct. Especially when I put my needs before others and I flagrantly disobey God despite knowing His laws and commands.
While Jesus was on earth, on the night He was betrayed, He reassured His disciples. That He would not leave them orphaned. But would ask the Father to give the disciples the Holy Spirit as a advocate. As believers today, we too are also beneficiries of the same exact promise and we now have an advocate. One who would be with us forever. He promised that the Holy Spirit would live with us and be in us. Jesus also promised that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things and remind us of everything that Jesus told us. The roles and responsibilities of Holy Spirit in our lives include but are not limited to giving counsel, supporting us through trials, imbuing us with strength, defend and protecting us from the enemy and interceding on our behalf.
From Romans 8:11 it is clear that the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of us. He is not outside of us, nearby, not at the back nor at the front, He lives on the inside. So we can’t lose him, forget Him nor leave Him behind. And in John 14:16 Jesus promised that Holy Spirit will be with us forever. This relationship is so permanent that Paul said in Ephesians 1:13, we are marked by Christ with the seal of the Holy Spirit. The promised gift becomes a mark with which you are now identified by the Kingdom of God. When Jesus told the disciples about the Holy Spirit He was speaking out of experience. After He received the Holy Spirit, He turned water into wine. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind and even commanded the wind and the storm to cease.
The book of Acts records the amazing, awesome power of Holy Spirit from His dramatic introduction into the lives of the disciples to the transformational change that took place in the disciples. They went from men who were cowering and hiding from the Pharisees to standing boldly in the temple, preaching the gospel. Personally I find starting up the conversation about salvation very difficult. One, is the fear that I am being presumptuous; that the person I am addressing does not have a relationship with God. Two, I feel it may be taken the wrong way; that I am advertising my own spirituality. Three I am not confident that I am an excellent representation of Jesus my hero. So clearly I lack confidence in my abilities and need to trust the Holy Spirit more.
