February 3, 2023Hope is the gift I will give to myself in 2023. As you can imagine the end of 2022 was heart wrenching and it was pretty difficult to remember all the awesome things that had gone on before and after my dear husband rested. But in obedience to God I gave thanks at the start of this year. I purposed to end the year right and to start this year full. Full of God’s promises and His blessings. One of the things I decided to do was to give myself a gift this year. Usually my new year resolutions look like this. 1. lose x kgs, 2. be intentional about my relationships 3. read the bible more 4. write a book etc.
Gift of hope
This year I have decided to be Joshua, to be bold and courageous. I decided to give myself the gift of hope. According to the bible, hope is a confident expectation and desire for something good in the future. That describes how I would like to feel this year, ultimately I would like to triumph over this hard knock. One of my favourite bible verses Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you……plans to prosper you to give you a hope and a future. Lining up my expectations with God’s word means that even in this, God has a plan.
God’s plan
Therefore I can be confident because a plan that prospers you is a good plan. These plans give me hope and a future. And to be honest just knowing that God has a plan is more than enough for me to feel encouraged. Now the trick is getting to know this plan that God has and knows. My prayer is that it doesn’t take the whole year to figure this out. I have set myself the ambitious task of reading the bible in a year and to that end I downloaded a bible reading plan.
Hope is a four letter word that packs a punch. It is in the same Whatsapp group as faith and love. Hope is the word that will carry me through the year. Do not underestimate the power of a word because in the story about the Roman Centurion who asked Jesus to heal the servant. He said “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed“. Hearing this Jesus, was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith“. My faith is that 2023 will be a year of hope and my expectations will be met in full.

It’s really encouraging. Trulyy when you determine to seek the Lord with all your heart he promised to be found. In finding God may others connect with Him through you.

This is one of the best resolutions. Hope. Many a times we limit what God can do in our lives. I will keep on trusting Him and my Hope I will just put in Him

Am amazed , my daily life boosting text is Jeremiah 29: 11. I belief the Lord has good plans for each one of us. Once we believe so , then no matter what happens around us , we will have the strength to pull on.
