Thank you Lord is the right attitude! What if that is the attitude we all adopted whenever we face a challenge, disappointment or a set back. I suspect we would have more success in overcoming our challenges. It would set the tone of our relationship with God, move it from a ‘what can I get out of Him‘ to ‘even if He slays me yet I will hope in Him‘ as confessed by Job in the bible. Ask yourself, do I love God above the things He can do for me or the things He can get for me? I found this a very sobering question, I realised I had taken many things about my relationship with Him for granted.
Imagine waking up each morning saying thank you to the Almighty God. How would that change your perspective for the day? So I have put it to the test and the results have been amazing. And because I know I will forget I set an alarm so that I start my day right. And then I resist the urge to switch off or snooze my alarm. At the start of this exercise I must confess I had slurred speech. But I have improved over time even relocating myself from my warm cozy inviting bed to an upright chair. What I have found is saying thank you has increased my expectancy of God answering my prayers. The joy in my spirit, a deposit of the Holy Spirit springs into action and peppers my attitude for the rest of the day.
What if we started our conversations with God like that! Thank you Lord for the bright new day! Thank you Lord I am alive! I am grateful for the air that I breathe which is a sure sign that I am in the land of the living. In the beginning thanking the Lord did not come naturally. But with practice I am now able to meet my daily targets of thank yous which is ten. The challenge is ten different things every day. So to ease the pressure on myself because remember it is the first thing in the morning and my brain is still sluggish. I have devised a system where the first five things are repeat and the next five have to be original or specific to the previous day.
So I want to challenge you to ’10 daily thank yous‘, dont overthink it ,just start, it gets better the more you practice!
