What is the truth about unanswered prayers? The truth is that when prayers go unanswered it is demoralising to your spirit. Prayers that go unanswered create this wall or divide between you and God. And sometimes it may not seem obvious but that is the issue. You find that you now are approaching or talking to God less and less. I find I get reluctant to go back to God and ask for something else even when I am in desperate need. My confidence takes a nosedive. I find myself in the uncomfortable situation of giving God the silent treatment. Even though I refuse to acknowledge to myself that that is indeed what I am doing.
Rejection is painful especially from one who says He loves you and He is able and capable to do what you ask (as long at it is His will). But remember God is also a parent and He may have decided because of His infinite wisdom. That what you are asking for will be detrimental to you in the long run. He may have decided that you don’t have the maturity yet to receive it so His ‘no‘ response may just be a strategic delay on His part. Or there is no answer/response because the time is not yet. So I am learning that when a prayer goes unanswered I should not catch feelings but spend time meditating on what God may be trying to tell me.
How to get out of the slump? Losing the momentum in your prayer life may be a consequence of prayers not being answered. The drive to seek God diminishes in proportion to your perception of how God responds to your requests. How to overcome this is by reminding yourself of who God is, that His nature does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Recall the prayers He has answered in the past and use this to encourage yourself in the season you find yourself in. If He did it before, He can surely do it again. Also read His word to remind yourself of the infinite promises He has declare. Read the stories of other people in the bible who were direct beneficiaries of His grace, mercy and favour.
Once you have confirmed that what you requested is in His will for you, purpose in your heart to exercise the discipline of waiting on the Lord. You will require patience, my advise to you is believe God heard you the first time and now spend time watering the seed that you planted. In Mark 4:4 Jesus in the “Parable of a Sower” spoke of the word as a seed. And He also said that the people who produced a harvest, heard the word and then accepted it. That means when they heard the word, they accepted it as true and believed it in their hearts. Remember a seed does not go to the ground and immediately sprout out so you may need T.I.M.E. Time for your faith to manifest. However, once it does you will find that your prayer has been answered.

This book is a heartwarming, contemporary love story between a man and a woman contemplating a life together.
