To trust God is to be still. I had a light bulb moment this week when I realised that I am called to be still. I found out that ‘Be Still” in Hebrew means to be weak, to let go, to release. Being still is not only a vote of confidence in God’s capability. But it is a sign that we trust God. We trust God to have gone ahead of us, we trust Him to have a solution to our problem. Being still is a declaration that you are waiting on the Lord to step in on your behalf and deal with the situation. One of my favourite scripture verses is Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.
Trust God is a theme that seems to be on speed dial in my life. I guess I need constant reminding by the Holy Spirit. Because I tend to immediately forget all my victories in the Lord when a new challenge or issue comes up. Moses kept telling the children of Israel to remember because I suspect it is a natural tendency of humans to forget what the Lord has done in your life. So one way to keep your trust God jar full is to remember what He has previously done for you. I would like to add a suggestion that when you remember accompany it with praise which in my case means sing a song of worship, it will stick!
God’s promises to us are contained in His word so it is important to read the word, understand it. And know how to apply it to any given situation in your life. Reading the word is one thing but then we have to go further and believe the word. We have the opportunity to exercise our faith by believing what the word says. There is no new thing under the sun so whatever the situation, whatever your experience, God has seen it before. And He knows what can be done to address or resolve it. So you can trust Him to help you however, you need to know what His word says about your situation. This will help you visualise your expectations and also know when your prayer has been answered.

Letting go has to be intentional, one has to first recognise the need to let go. Either the situation is too big for you to handle or you know that God has told you to let Him deal with the situation. Sometimes the temptation to not wait on the Lord is too great to resist. Because in my particular case I believe I can easily solve it without disturbing God who surely has better and more important things to do. And yet God as our Father wants us to come to Him with those “insignificant” problems because it is a sign that we trust Him. A sign that we lean on Him, a sign that His will in our lives is paramount to us. It is sign that it has become a lifestyle, what I hope we are all striving towards!

This book is a heartwarming, contemporary love story between a man and a woman contemplating a life together.
