Our hope is, resurrected and alive. Today marks 3 years since our dearly departed loved one Edward, my late husband went into eternity. And our prayer and hope is that he is resting in peace awaiting the final resurrection. In John 11:25-26 Jesus says to Martha “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Then He asks her this question “Do you believe this?” I believe in this season that is the one question that the Lord has asked me over and over again, that do I believe that even though Edward died, he lives.

Mourning a loved one is not something you can prepare for. But I have come to learn especially this year that laying them to rest is possible and imperative. What does laying them to rest look like? Letting go of the ‘what ifs’? What if he hadn’t died? What if he was still here? etc. Choosing not to look back but to look forward, embracing the future that is splendidly laid out infront of me. And not focusing on the very glaring obvious absence. It hurts, it is not fair but God is still with me and He is more than enough.
The reason I have hope is, one of the names of the God I believe in is ‘God of hope’. Romans 15:13 says May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. And of course my hope is that as Jesus defeated death and rose again so will all who believe in him. I know that Edward believed in Jesus, it was something that he confessed. It was a belief that he treasured. Therefore the hope is he will be resurrected and alive.
Lastly God is famous for keeping His promises. Starting with the promise of deliverance right after Adam and Eve sinned to the promise of eternal life. He has promised that He gives us eternal life and we shall never perish and no one will snatch us from His hand. Talk about security and assurance. He has promised to every single one of us born of a woman that whosoever believes will not perish but will have eternal life. If you have not given your life to Christ, what are you waiting for?

This book is a heartwarming, contemporary love story between a man and a woman contemplating a life together.
