Defeat fear, do not entertain it! What does this look like? I believe God’s gift of free will has created a situation where life is about choices. And unfortunately making no decision is a choice. So do not be indecisive, make your mind up , do not take too long to make a decision. Fear, is an emotion that is destructive in its effectiveness. It can cause one to procrastinate, to defer an opportunity or to choose to stay stuck. The bible describes fear as a spirit. However, you choose to describe fear it is ferocious in deterring you from achieving your goal or realising your full potential. Fear of failure makes one reluctant to try or take a risk and yet we were designed to be fearless. The greatest achievements of man have come from people willing to do what has not been done before or to go where none have gone before. The most successful people who overcome fear do not do this by pretending it does not exist. They acknowledge its existence and then choose to surmount the huddle it presents.
This is illustrated perfectly by the request small children make to their parents when you bid them goodnight. And they ask you to stay with them a little longer till they go to sleep because they are afraid. They may not be aware or are unable to describe why they are afraid but once you agree to stay on. The peace that settles on their faces is priceless, the fear leaves because you are present. In Psalm 23:4, David says, “Yea though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death yet I will fear no evil for you are with me”. Your Daddy is with you and once He checks in then fear flees.
What is God’s response to fear? He does not pretend it does not exist nor does He think it is impossible to overcome. In response to fear, God reminds the heroes in the bible that He is with them. In Joshua 1:9 God tells Joshua, to be strong and of good courage, not to be afraid for the God would be with him wherever Joshua went. First you have to get the mindset right, you have to be willing to take the leap. Second you need to remind yourself that God is with you, resist the urge to remind God. He knows, He wrote it down for you in the bible. Third you need to just do it.

What a great reassuring illustration of how fear flees in God’s presence!
So important to keep reminding ourselves of his presence .so powerful

Hey Hannah,
This is so true Anna, even the Bible verses you have highlighted confirm God’s Love and care for us, the question is do we believe it with every fiber of our being? Peter is a good example of someone who allowed fear to take control of him while walking on water, For as long as His eyes were fixed on Jesus he was able to accomplish the impossible but as soon as he looked away he began to sink because he allowed fear to control him. May God help us overcome fear. Thank you for sharing Anna, God bless you!
I’m well equipped know, that I should not give a chance spirit of fear in my life.God bless you Anna for sharing together.
Very encouraging way of looking at fear.
What blessed assurance that God is ALWAYS with us! He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Fear is a spirit , true. So only those that are born again have overcome it . An important part of not entertaining it is not to talk fear. Sentiments like , l am afraid…., I am scared…l don’t know….. to mention but a few are ways of entertaining the spirit of fear around one that is born again. Choose not to talk or think fear.
Perfect submission to me is being a Christian. Who is a Christian someone would ask ? A Christian is God’s life in a human being . God has no enemy but the devil , so a Christian has no “human”enemy. Love them all.
The joy of the Lord is indeed my strength. This joy is independent of all circumstances around me since it’s a fruit of the spirit. I choose to be joyful always and at all times. God EXPECTS that of me.
