God’s perfect love; deep and tangible. What can I say about God’s love? I liken it to the love a parent has for a child. It starts with the knowledge that conception was successful and now the waiting begins. The waiting for your perfect bundle of joy to arrive. Most parents realise at the time of the birth of their child that they have loved them all along. The child starts the love journey at the time of birth. It is one of the things that child learns. It is through experience. The child learns that the parent provides for them, protects them, lavishes them with love. The child then reciprocates. That is what our love journey with God should look like. He lavishes us with love and we reciprocate.
Parents know that even when their child is being a disappointment or is in total rebellion, the love for the child does not diminish. God as the Father displayed his great love for us as stated by Paul in the book of Romans. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. God does not reserve His love for Christians alone or for those who will come to believe in His son Jesus Christ. God loves everyone He created, He loves the whole world. His desire is all peoples would know Him as God and worship Him but in the meantime He loves them. It is written that God makes the sun shine and rain fall on both the evil and the good.
The word deep is an interesting word, it means extending far down from the top or the surface. It could also mean very intense or extreme. God Himself gives us the definition of love. And though most times we use the definition as a standard for the love we should have towards one another. However, it is an accurate description of how God loves us. God is patient and kind. He does not envy, God does not boast, God is not proud. God does not dishonour others, God is not self-seeking, God is not easily angered, God keeps no record of wrongs.God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. God always protects, God always trusts, God always hopes, God always perseveres.
Just as a child feels the parent’s tangible love through acts of love, words of encouragement & life and through knowing without a shadow of doubt that the parent is their biggest fan. We too experience God in exactly the same way if we open up our hearts to His love. His acts of love extend from giving you life to providing for your every need. His word of encouragement and life are contained in the Bible so all you have to do is read the book. He is our biggest fan, He sent His one and only son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. We didn’t ask Him and just because Jesus died it does not mean we automatically accept the free gift. But God decided it was worth the risk, that we were worth the risk.
