What is the journey called salvation? It starts at the point when you recognise that your sins have separated you from a holy God. It starts with the conviction that you have offended God and He has the right to be offended. And then you take the next step which is a humongous one. You repent and put your faith in the finished work of Christ. All this is made possible when you believe that you are worth something. Actually you are worth the sacrifice of His only son dying in your place. Talk about love, that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. To restore fellowship with God.
Journey is a fascinating, exciting and adventurous word. For purposes of this post we will define it as a process of changing and developing over time. I wish I could tell you that once you make the decision to start on the journey everything will be smooth sailing and you have nothing to fear. Unfortunately it sometimes feels like the exact opposite. If you keep an open mind stay alert and focused you come to realise that the different tests and obstacles make the journey not only very interesting but worthwhile. My advice to you is the less you struggle and submit to the process the easier, quicker and less gruelling it gets.
The key to success is preparation with a capital P. The more prepared you are, the higher your chances of succeeding and getting to the other side. The other side is a most Christlike version of your self or eternity depending on which happens sooner. Having the right attitude and mindset is important. This will be the driving force behind your willingness to persevere to the end. Being a follower of Christ requires a shift in mindset because it feels like you go against the grain of ‘normal’ behaviour. As believers we are called to love unconditionally, forgive constantly and to die to self daily.
Do not focus on the destination rather focus on the portion of the journey between salvation when you confess that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour and when you get to heaven. God created you to live on earth, He created you for a specific purpose. The best person to guide you on your purpose is of course the third person in the Trinity. He is the Holy Spirit, the Helper who was sent by the Father in Jesus’ name to teach us all things.

A journey. Patience must be applied in generous quantities. We fail today because we want to go fast and achieve salvation using shortcuts. Pure laziness accompanies this.
This salvation is a journey with the Holy Spirit counseling me all the way.
The process is always the most important part and not the destination. As Christians, we are called on a journey to emnrace the transformation.
